Woods on Wheels

Bring the family and enjoy an educational forestry exhibit, Woods on Wheels (W.O.W.)!

Tuesday, July 20, 2021 2:00 - 6:00 PM

Indiana's W.O.W. is a traveling interactive exhibit that provides information about the Hoosier state’s most renewable resource, our forests. Visitors will feel as if they have been transported to the woods as soon as they enter—the interactive displays will immerse the senses while covering key topics in forestry. Navigating through the exhibit takes visitors from learning about the benefits of forest management and how it supports Indiana’s native wildlife to the history of Indiana’s forests and the many industries that rely on our magnificent hardwoods to produce the products we all know and love.

Though the target audience is 4th- 6th grade students, there is plenty of information for high school students eager to explore forestry career options, landowners needing expertise, policymakers looking to inform their decisions, educators, and fact-seeking members of the public. Along with having beneficial information for all within the exhibit, a W.O.W. forester will be there to answer questions, offer more in-depth information, and provide science-based forestry lessons to students!

This program is made possible by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and the Indiana Hardwoods Lumbermen’s Association (IHLA), Purdue: Forestry & Natural Resources Department, and with the support of the state’s hardwoods industry. The truck and trailer are provided by IHLA with monetary/material support from Hollingsworth Lumber, C.C. Cook & Son Lumber, Tom & Ronda Derleth, Daniel Antes, Milton Cole Family, Joe Crone (Crone Lumber), Brett Franklin (Tri-State Timber), Frank Miller Lumber Company, Pennsylvania Lumbermens Mutual Insurance Company, Pike Lumber Company, Purdue University, U-C Coatings, Tim Uhrich (Tree Worx).

This program is free for everyone. No pre-registration required.
